MED RAG FLOAT CONSTRUCTION - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

MED RAG FLOAT CONTRUCTION - HAPPENING EVERY DAY!
Time: 9am onwards
Venue: MD11 Basement Carpark (behind Anatomy Department, inside the car park - see picture below)

I went down today to see a most lively lot planning and plotting and pushing big heavy tables into the basement car park of MD11.

11.30am: Mu Liang, Pei Xuan, Aloy, Joanna, Zhen Chang are hard at work, moving tables to the basement. Where are the rest of them?

The girls came to help out too! The materials design team.

Xunqi, hard at work.

Work seems off to a promising start, but let's not let it fizzle out.. Keep coming and putting your stake into this project!
Don't leave these guys to labour alone! We need your help!

Here are some serving suggestions:
- bring your OG/tutorial group/friends along!
- bring your juniors along, so they can come and meet new friends, and their seniors-to-be and ask you all the kancheong questions they have about medical school.. THE GUYS HAVE DISRUPTED ALREADY ANYWAY!
- ask your classmates who have been hiding at home to come do something meaningful with the rest of the medical faculty
- plan some afternoon games after a hard day's work, eg. soccer, captain's ball, like what we did when we were M1s
- have makan together!

I now leave you with a quote from one of my most inspirational speakers to think about.

"Come on.. are you with me?" - Professor Gopalakrishnakone

THEY HAVE DISRUPTED.

pangsai.
those new (guy) meddies have already disrupted.
pangsai.
i enlisted EARLIER THAN THEM. but disrupted TWO WEEKS LATER THAN THEM!
!!!!
THEY SHOULD HELP IN MED RAG.

MEDICINE RAG FLOAT CONSTRUCTION BEGINS - YOUR HELP NEEDED!

Dear Friends,

Med Rag Float Construction begins this Tuesday and we will be working tirelessly through the week (and weeks to come) to build the basic float construction, ready for the new M1s to take over to complete the finishing touches.
This will be, of course, impossible without your help.

So please try to avail yourself to come down if you are free and have no prior plans.

MED RAG FLOAT CONTRUCTION - PHASE 1
Starts Tuesday, 26 June onwards
Time: 9am till 6pm or later
Venue: MD11 Basement Carpark (behind Anatomy Department)

Bring your friends/tutorial group mates/OG mates to come along to help in this good cause. It'll be a fun time to work out a good sweat and spend time with you dear friends.

FUNDING ISSUES
As Marketing Heads, Huijin and I have been tasked to seek funding and sponsorship from corporate donors and individuals. However, response so far has been very bleak.

We are hence appealing to you guys for donations of cash or any kind. If you have any amount of money that you or your parents feel like donating to this cause, please feel free to contact Huijin or myself. Honestly, even loose change can be very handy to us now, and I appreciate any and every small contribution that you guys are going to make.

For donations in kind, I'm sure you have read the email Joanna had sent out. Please help us by bringing scrap/recycled materials and tools to aid us in the construction of the float.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT RAG AIMS TO BOND US ALL TOGETHER AND IN THE PROCESS, RAISE SOME SERIOUS SUM OF MONEY FOR CHARITY. IT'S STUPID TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ALL THESE FUNDING ISSUES (especially with the new restrictions imposed on us) BUT I HAVE ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE THAT ALL OF US WILL BAND TOGETHER TO PUT FORTH A GREAT RAG PERFORMANCE THIS YERA 2007, AND BRING BACK THE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY TO OUR MEDICAL SCHOOL, SHOWING THE REST THAT WE ARE CERTAINLY THE BEST AT WHAT WE DO..

Jonk,
on behalf of MedRag 07.

hey guys

the plan for this year's FLAG is that besides the mundane trudging around sg to beg people for donations, med fac's gonna have PERFORMERS stationed at select corners to provide entertainment for the public (and of course to solicit donations)

this is a call for PERFORMERS, not limited to bands,
-bands (doesnt have to be your usual rock bands, you might even want to be creative and come up with a quartet or erhu ensemble..)
-acapella groups?
-breakdancing crews
-jugglers
-magicians
-sword-swallowers & fire-eaters
yeah these are just a few ideas....up to you guys to get together and think of stuff.

you'll need to email:
1. approx no. of performers
2. genre of performance
3. equipment needed(we're not sure yet if you have to procure it yourselves.. )
4. a contact number and email for the group.

deadline for signup is JULY 4, 2007.
i know some people are overseas, try to confirm with them somehow...telegram/email/facebook over or something.
email me to sign up, please put "flag07 busking" as your subject. use same email and subject if you have queries, thanks.

enjoy the rest of the holidays :)

laughter is the best medicine..

Here's something I read today in Reader's Digest, which I'll share with you all:

--

"I'll need to make a correction on the death certificate I handed you," my colleague told the nurse. "I realised I made an embarassing mistake."

"Sure, and what would that mistake be?" The nurse queried.

"I had signed it in a hurry, and failed to realised that I wrote my name under 'Cause of Death'."

--

And another one.

--

I was rostered to pilot a plane, which turned out to be an overbooked flight. To counter this problem, our airline decided to offer two volunteers free hotel accommodation, meal vouchers, and tickets for the next morning if they would decide to opt out of this flight. However, none of the restless passengers would do so, after the announcement had been made.

I decided to try some levity in this situation and spoke over the PA, "If it may help you in your decision, I'm not a very good pilot."

A voice shouted from behind the plane, "THEN YOU GET OFF!"

Cheers (: Happy holidays.

The Long Walk

is a 3 mile road in the Great Windsor Park that leads to Windsor Castle in Windsor, England.

A group of us made a trip there and had a picnic by the park.

Here are some photos of us, wishing you were here..
Just like a rock band.. Clockwise from left: Milton, Shawn, Jialun, Joel, Jonk

serendipity is sweet (:

oh, what a small world it is!

While at the British Museum, guess who I saw?

Alvin and Shermyn!

And guess who's living just three stations away from me?

Grace Ong!

Of all the places she could be holidaying in, she's holidaying in LONDON.
Of all the places to stay in London, she has to be staying OUTSIDE the city.
In a little borough called Beckenham, where I ALSO STAYED last weekend!
And where I'm staying now is just a 10 minute train ride to her place!

ANYWAY - this is what Grace and I found while we were wandering around Waterloo (we kinda didn't know where to go, or where we were going, so ended up walking around there)..

ANATOMY CHART! £2.99

What does this building remind you of?!

MOE BUILDING? Yes, it has a London relative too.

Hullo from London..

Jonk in Great Britian

Bonjour! I just got here exactly 24 hours ago, and i'm backing up photos and cleaning my camera before setting off for the day.
Will be updating my Jonk Save the Queen blog if you'd like to know what I'm doing and the photos I've taken.
See you guys at Medicamp, Rag&Flag and school!

PS: Today I saw someone reading a medical textbook on the Train to London Victoria! Haha. I wanted to strike up a conversation with him, but figured I'd better not rub it in (like, HAHA - i'm SOO done with anatomy!).
